Here's a day brightener from Duluth reader Beth Olson. And thanks to Facilities staff members across our regions for making sure we all get safely to work!

"Can you thank the people who take care of our sidewalks in the Daily Dose or pass on this thank you to them? I get here before 7 a.m. and the sidewalks are always nicely groomed and even dry sometimes when it has snowed in the night. I don't know how they do it, but we have a very dedicated crew who work in the dark mornings to make our sidewalks safe for us walking into work. I love these people ... thank you, thank you."

Last call for half marathon, race entries

DULUTH, Minn. – This is it – the last call to enter a drawing for a guaranteed entry to the 22nd annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon or the 19th annual William A. Irvin 5K. Both races are run in conjunction with Grandma’s Marathon. Essentia Health is a proud sponsor of Grandma’s.

All Essentia Health employees can enter the drawing for one of 300 guaranteed entries. Here is how:

  • East Region employees will find the Grandma’s Marathon hyperlink on the main Intranet page. Click here for details. Do NOT e-mail RSVP.
  • Central and West Region employees can enter the drawing by e-mailing RSVP@EssentiaHealth.org. ONLY Central and West Region entries will be accepted on RSVP.

Entries will be accepted through 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28. Winners will be chosen at random and you can only enter the drawing once. Winners will be notified via e-mail.

Race entries can only be used by Essentia Health staff. A guaranteed entry gives you a place in the June 16 half-marathon field or the June 15 5K field. If you win, you’ll need to register for the races online at www.grandmasmarathon.com. Winners are also responsible for their entry and processing fees.
